The app is great. I wanted something very basic. I can log into the app from anywhere and see if my garage door is open, how long it has been open, if it is closed and how long it has been closed. There is a way to make this work with 99% of the garage door openers out there, even the older ones with the 9 and 12 pin DIP switches. You can get a receiver that will convert the more current standards of communication to your old garage door opener via a hard-wired connection. Now the MyQ Garage System can send a Megacode signal to this new receive that then tells the garage door to open or close it.

I have had two of these openers installed for about 2.5 years so far. Where these really shine is in their ability to connect to Apple’s HomeKit platform to allow for complete automation. All in all, I’d say this is a great purchase.
